Sarah-Len Mutiwasekwa

Sarah-Len is the Co-founder and Program Director of the Global Institute of Emotional Health and Wellness. Together with Antony Makoni, their organization focuses on providing mental health services at little to no cost to people of all ages, gender, race, and backgrounds. They provide free mental health services to University students. The main aim of the organization is to deliver mental health services in a fun and innovative way to increase the engagement of students in mental health activities on campus. The Global Institute of Emotional Health and Wellness uses ‘Get the conversation going’ as a mental health preventative campaign that involves different message delivery vehicles mostly in the form of art and other fun activities that are aligned with mental health.

‘Get the conversation going’ is a concept that encapsulates the fighting of the stigma associated with mental health. The reason there is stigma is that a few people talk about mental health and not talking about it perpetuates the stigma. It is the aim of GIEHW to equip ordinary people with the basics of mental health intervention for themselves, loved ones and the people around them. The organization is focused mostly on preventative measures although they provide intervention services.

As an innovative young lady Sarah-Len’s major role in the organization is to develop the programs, the organization uses to engage the community in the mental health campaign.
